Psychotherapy Terms & Conditions

Time, location and duration

We will meet either face-to-face or online via Zoom, at an agreed specified time, generally for 50 mins. Exceptions will be notified and agreed in advance. Each 1:1 session will typically be of at least 50 minutes duration; it is possible to increase this (subject to availability and need), please simply raise this in session if this is something you would like to request at any time.

Your sessions are a sacred space for you, and it is important we use the time to explore your perspectives, beliefs, psychological structures and so on. Therefore, with the exception of couples work, sessions are strictly 1:1.

I do not send appointment reminders, it is our mutual responsibility to make a note of your next appointment in our own calendars. However if you are unsure about the time/ date of your next session please get in contact.

Cancellation policy

If for any reason you can’t attend your session, you agree to let me know as far in advance as possible. Providing at least three working days notice is given, no fee will be due. The full fee will be due if not notified by three working days prior.

Frequency

Weekly 1:1 clients can choose to have a mutually agreed fixed slot day/time held exclusively for them.

Couples work may be more infrequent, in which case we will generally agree the next session at the end of the previous.

Session cost

Fees shall generally be reviewed annually each February, with any exceptions discussed and agreed upfront. Fees will typically be fixed until the following February however, where clients join with less than six months to go until the next review.

Payment

We will discuss either a weekly or monthly invoice option. It is your responsibility to pay on time, otherwise future sessions will be impacted until accounts are up to date.

Contact

Aside from administration such as payment links, cancellations / rescheduling requests, or fee change notifications, contact outside of your session time is kept to a minimum. This is in the spirit of ensuring all communications are in session, and that all aspects of the process are an opportunity for personal growth and self-awareness.

For couples work, if you need to contact me outside of a session you agree to cc in your partner so all communications are visible within the relationship.

Occasionally contact outside of our session time is unavoidable; please use email in those instances - katherine@curiousandbrave.co.uk.I also retain a Whatsapp business account for those that prefer to communicate in this way, please discuss with me if this is the case and I will provide my business number for use. I will not contact you through my own personal channels for any communications, and please note I am not able to respond to messages on personal channels.

Ending

Psychotherapy is an open ended weekly arrangement with no fixed end date, although you are free to begin working towards an ending of the work at any point. If and when the time feels right to end therapy, you agree to give me a minimum of four sessions notice (two for couples work) so we may work towards it together, explore your reasons for doing so and wrap up the work effectively.

Confidentiality

Whilst each session is confidential, there are some exceptions to this:

  • Where I become concerned that you pose a threat to yourself or to others.

  • Where required by law.

  • Through the ethically integral and industry mandated practice of supervision.
